((below is a brief summery of events involving the last major story line for New Delphi. Feel free to add details we have missed or ask questions to help fit your character in and around events as you like.))
With the city settling into a relative calm and the rising rate of crime tapering off it was surmised to only be a mater of time before something would test the resolve of the new city.
Artifacts recovered by LORE from the vaults of OGS were in the process of being logged for use in various museums, and re-appropriated to better uses. One such artifact was a relic believed to be the statue of an ancient god like creature... exerts guessing around before even the time of most written record.
The statue however was not of primitive man but his so called masters.. creatures of a long vanished race said to have been before the world was young. The Deep Things... followers of he who they call the drowned god.
It was this relic that brought them.. and they who were responsible for the vanishing people of lower city. as things grew stranger and various mishaps began to rise LORE launched an investigation to find out why. Sadly their own experts were able to reveal little.. and even specimens of the fish like creatures told them almost nothing of these new guests.
Cults began to crop up, and doom was the word of the day as odd celestial events caused the worlds tides to roll in with an alarming frequency and even more alarming refusal to subside. The flooding ruptured several main water lines, and it's still unclear the full extent of the damage or lives lost.
With panic building, and the rising demand for service calls swamping the bureau of city maintenance they turned to man reputed to be an expert in this field of study. Dr Ashford.
With the breakthroughs in his research LORE was able to begin production of a new combat drone to help stem the growing hordes but before it could see field deployment, actions by what officials now call shadowrunners lead to the destruction of the unit and theft of priceless resources to LORE and crippled it's ability to aid the city when they were needed most.
With things looking their worst Dr Ashford turned then to recruit those he knew still could act.. and while able to deduce a good many things ultimately meet an untimely end in his investigations. But not before at least supplying the few scrapes of truth that those still willing to fight for the city might use to stop this.
In the end in what many still have trouble believing the water simply went away. The city saved and rescue crews and LORE have again launched a massive effort to secure the tentative peace. and the reports of a place beyond time seems to gibber on the lips of a rare few who looked into the abyss.. and only saw the abyss staring back.
